Allgaier Keeps Top 10 Streak Going, Sees Top 5 Streak End Though With 6th Place Finish In Texas

FORT WORTH, TX – Justin Allgaier saw one streak come to an end during Saturday night’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at the Texas Motor Speedway but also saw another on extend to another week too.

Allgaier, would bring his No. 7 Chevrolet home sixth in the penultimate race of the second round which ends a six race top five streak as a result of that. But, another streak continues on, as the JR Motorsports driver has now finished inside of the top 10 for 15 straight races now. That streak started on July 12 at the Kentucky Speedway.

As a result, Allgaier extends his playoff lead on the bubble by 16 points in going from +2 heading into the weekend to +18 leaving it.

That’s a much better feeling that what he started Saturday night’s race off with as Allgaier initially qualified his car in sixth. But, due to an engine change on Friday, he’d have to drop to the rear at the start. Luckily, he moved up to ninth to score two stage points in the first stage. He’d finish second in Stage 2 for nine more points giving him 11 for the night.

It proved to be enough as Chase Briscoe had a couple of incidents in the second half of the race and would finish three laps down in 22nd. Michael Annett scored zero stage points and finished 11th. Noah Gragson crashed on Lap 149 and finished 30th. All three of those bad finishes combined with Allgaier’s top 10, makes him in a great position heading to the ISM Raceway in Phoenix next weekend.

While it’s now been 39 races since Allgaier last won, he’s on the verge of his third Championship 4 berth in the last four years.
