Austin Hill Breaks Trucks Record At Pocono En Route To Gander RV 150 Pole
The track record at the Pocono Raceway for the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series was broken on Friday as Austin Hill circled the 2.5-mile track with a speed of 171.347 mph in his No. 16 Toyota. By virtue of that hot lap, Hill will start on the pole for Saturday’s Gander RV 150 (1 p.m. ET/FOX/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
It was Hill’s second pole of the season.
Joining Hill on the front row on Saturday will be Ross Chastain. The NIECE Motorsports driver qualified with a lap of 171.106 mph in his No. 45 Chevrolet.
More Chevy’s followed with Stewart Friesen (170.661 mph), Brett Moffitt (170.078 mph) and Sheldon Creed (170.068 mph) rounding out the top five and giving the bowties four of the top five starting spots.
The Kyle Busch Motorsports duo of Harrison Burton and Todd Gilliland qualified sixth and seventh respectively. There both chasing Ben Rhodes for the eighth and final spot into the playoffs with only three races remaining in the regular season. Rhodes, will start a disappointing 15th.
