Briscoe Makes Late Pass Of Bell To Win Saturday’s US Cellular 250 In Iowa
Chase Briscoe overcame a pit road penalty to earn his second career NASCAR XFINITY Series victory in being victorious on Saturday evening at the Iowa Speedway. Briscoe, passed Christopher Bell on Lap 243 and led the final seven circuits around the .894-mile oval en route to his fourth career NASCAR sanctioned victory and first in Iowa.
The Stewart-Haas Racing driver now has three straight top six finishes on the season and six top seven results in his last eight overall in his No. 98 Ford. His last win came on the Charlotte ROVAL on Sept. 29, 2018, 23 races or 21 attempts for Briscoe ago.

This was also his first top five finish at Iowa but third top 10 in as many starts.
Bell, despite starting on the pole and leading a race-high 234 of 250 laps on Saturday came home runner-up in his No. 20 Toyota. It was Bell’s fourth consecutive top two finish in Iowa and third straight on the season. In fact, over the last four weeks, Bell hasn’t finished worse than third and has five top three finishes over his last six NXS starts.
Despite Bell having won five times compared to Briscoe’s now one, the SHR driver has more top 10’s than the Joe Gibbs Racing competitor 14-13.
John Hunter Nemechek earned his first top five result since Phoenix back in March with a third place run in his No. 23 Chevrolet. In fact, this was his first top 10 result on the season since an eighth place finish on the track back in June.
Rookie Noah Gragson would finish fourth in his No. 9 Chevrolet for his fourth top six Iowa finish in as many tries in NASCAR sanctioned races on the bullring. The JR Motorsports driver also has eight top 10 finishes in his last nine starts on the season and 11 overall. This was his first top five finish since Michigan last month.
Tyler Reddick rounded out the top five in his No. 2 Chevrolet to earn his 16th top 10 finish of the season and third consecutive top five on the year.
Justin Allgaier would finish sixth in his No. 7 Chevrolet. Where this is relevant is, he failed to lead a lap in the two races this year at Iowa. Over his previous four Iowa starts, he had led 299 laps. The JRM driver now has three straight top seven finishes on the year and five in the last seven overall.
We have seven races left in the regular season with three of the next four being on road courses. Brandon Jones still leads the playoff bubble over Gray Gaulding by 101 points.
The series is back in action next weekend at Watkins Glen.
