LAS VEGAS, NV – At the Daytona 500 Media Day, Kyle Busch said that he had an agreement to return to Joe Gibbs Racing for next season and beyond. The only thing missing was the ink on the paper. On Thursday, JGR announced that they have come to an agreement to keep Busch in their organization for the foreseeable future.
On Friday, Busch was at his hometown track (Las Vegas Motor Speedway) talking about his new deal. The Nevada native said that he never seriously considered leaving JGR.
“My relationship with Joe (Gibbs), JD (Gibbs) and the family has grown a lot of the years and each year I think it gets better and better,’’ Busch said. from the LVMS media center on Friday. “With the time I have been there and talking to them in the middle of 2007, and then being a driver with them since 2008 has meant the most to my career.
Busch, has won 46 of his 50 career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races with JGR. He’s emerged as one of the best drivers in the series today. Why would he ever leave?
He said on Friday, he never seriously considered looking elsewhere.
“It’s all about relationships and I feel like the relationship with M&M’s has continued to get better and grown over the years as well as Toyota. I have a lot of friendships there. With all of that, you never say never but I don’t know if you’d ever really see myself drive anything different than a Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 M&M’s Toyota. Hopefully it stays that way and we know it will stay that way for the foreseeable future. I am certainly looking forward to that.”
