Cindric Eyeing 3 In-A-Row Friday Night In Bristol
Team Penske’s Austin Cindric has become quite familiar with Victory Lane the past two weekends as the North Carolina native has bagged the last two checkered flags in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and this weekend is looking to become just the ninth driver to win three-in-a-row.
Cindric, enters this weekend’s Food City 300 (7:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/PRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) not just on the heels of two straight wins, but he has 17 top 11 finishes in 21 tries this season in his No. 22 Ford.
But, if he’s going to win for a third straight week, he’s going to have to do so in rare form. See, Cindric has won five times now in NASCAR competition. All five victories were on road courses.
He won the last two weeks at Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio respectively. He won in Mosport in Trucks. He also won at the Virginia International Raceway as well as Watkins Glen in K&N competition too.
This week though is on an oval in Bristol. He finished 14th in this race last year but sixth in the spring.
If he’s going to win, he has to top Kyle Busch who leads the series in poles (six), wins (nine), top fives (17) and laps led (2,067) at Bristol, Joey Logano who has made 12 series starts at Bristol posting a pole, two wins, six top fives and 10 top 10s and Erik Jones who also has three poles, two wins, three top fives and four top 10s.
Oh yeah, the “Big 3” in the series right now too who also finished 1-2-3 back in April.
Below is a look at the drivers that have won three or more races consecutively:
