Custer Dominates Friday Night’s Alsco 300,Big 3 Shine Again Under The Lights At Kentucky

SPARTA, KY – Cole Custer dominated the final stage of Friday night’s Alsco 300 en route to his fifth NASCAR XFINITY Series victory of the season. Custer, led a race high 88 of 200 laps at the Kentucky Speedway and scored his first career win on the 1.5-mile track. All of his laps led came in the final stage in his No. 00 Ford, as he has now won three of the last six races on the season.

Custer, is arguably one of the championship favorites as the Stewart-Haas Racing driver had two career wins entering this year. He’s now won five in 17 tries already this season.

Furthermore, Custer now has three top two finishes in his last four starts on the year too.

Christopher Bell would finish runner-up to Custer by just 1.651-seconds in his No. 20 Toyota. It was Bell’s third top three finishes in his last four starts on the season as the defending race winner at Kentucky comes up one spot short of a repeat.

Bell, led 72 laps of his own.

Tyler Reddick brought his No. 2 Chevrolet home third for his first top five result since his win at Michigan last month. He does have 11 top five finishes in his last 14 starts though.

Michael Annett finished fourth in his No. 1 Chevrolet for his seventh top 10 result in his last eight starts on the season while Custer’s SHR teammate of Chase Briscoe rounded out the top five in his No. 98 Ford. He has four top 10 finishes in his last six tries on the season too.

The race showed that the cream rose to the top. The “Big 3” have won 14 races now this season as they also finished 1-2-3. Combined, they led all but 33 circuits on Friday night.

Also, the only XFINITY Series regulars with wins in 2019 finished 1-2-3-4 too and they were four of the only five on the lead lap at the races end.
