Dale Coyne Racing Looks Like Favorites For Saturday’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 (8 p.m. E

MADISON, Ill – Both Dale Coyne Racing cars were strong last weekend at the Pocono Raceway. In fact, both drivers have been strong on all four ovals run thus far in the NTT IndyCar Series season.

Now that we head to the fifth and final oval of the 2019 year, the DCR boys are trying to close out the season on these types of circuits strong.

Heading into the Saturday night’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 (8 p.m. ET/NBCSN/INDYCAR Radio Network) they rank 5-15 in oval points. The only reason that both aren’t in the top 10 though is because Sebastien Bourdais was involved in a late race crash in the Indianapolis 500 back on May 26 that left him with a 30th place finish in a double points race. He was battling with Graham Rahal for a spot in the top 10 at the time.

Sebastien Bourdais practices his No. 18 Honda on Friday at the World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis

His other four oval finishes have been in the top 10.

Bourdais, finished eighth in Texas, ninth at Iowa and seventh at Pocono respectively. He qualified seventh, third, 21st and 11th respectively too.

For Saturday night’s race at the World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis, Bourdais qualified his No. 18 Honda third as the lone non Penske driver in the top 2 Rows. He was also fifth in practice on Friday afternoon’s practice session too as well.

His rookie teammate of Santino Ferrucci has been strong too. He’s fifth in oval points as he’s finished seventh, fourth and fourth respectively on superspeedways and 12th on a short oval at Iowa last month.

Ferrucci, has been so quick and fearless on these types of circuits. He was P1 in practice earlier on Friday to go along with a strong qualifying result too.

For Saturday’s 225 Lap race, Ferrucci will start sixth.

That’s great news for the American as he’s in a fight for a battle in Rookie of the Year. Ferrucci, is currently second in the rookie standings as he trails Felix Rosenqvist by just 13 points with three races remaining in the season.

Everyone thought that the road and street courses would be a strong suit for Ferrucci but it appears that the ovals actually are.
