Want to watch Dale Earnhardt Jr. race again in 2019? He confirmed on his social media on Friday that he will race at the Darlington Raceway this summer.
Come to @TooToughToTame this year. I’m running the @XfinityRacing race. — Dale Earnhardt Jr. (@DaleJr) February 1, 2019
Earnhardt, answered a fans question by saying “Come To Too Tough To Tame this year. I’m running the XFINITY Series race.”
Earnhardt, retired from full time driver following the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. But, when he announced his retirement in the spring of that year, he said that he would still be racing in select XFINITY Series races with his team, JR Motorsports.
Earnhardt, has said that in order to get the sponsorship needed to run that team, sometimes he needs to make appearances in one of their cars.
In 2018, that appearance was at the September Richmond race. He would go on to finish fourth last fall.
This year, we know the appearance will be the throwback weekend at Darlington, a track Earnhardt has always been fond of. He mentioned last year that the race that he’d like to run was on the South Carolina oval. He joked that he would pick a race that would be extremely hot conditions at.
Now, that move has been confirmed.
Earnhardt, 140 career NXS starts with trips to victory lane in 24 of them. He won back-to-back season championships in 1998 and again in 1999.
