Surprise, surprise. Mercedes looks like the team to beat for Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix (9 a.m. ET/ESPN 2). But, will they win?
Right now I’d say, yes. Who though will triumph for Sunday’s 66 Lap race?
Here’s who I think and who I think will finish in the top five.
44 Hamilton – He showed a lot of speed on Saturday and starts second. Hamilton, has won in each of the last two years in Spain to go along with three wins in five years. Why not four in six?
77 Bottas – Mercedes has finished 1-2 in every race this season to go along with 1-2 in this race last year. Why not a second straight? Bottas, was fastest in both practice sessions on Friday and starts on the pole.
16 Leclerc – He beats his Ferrari teammate for his second podium of the season. Leclerc, was third, third and second respectively in practice and finishes third on Sunday.
5 Vettel – He has finished in the top four in his last six Spanish Grand Prix starts. Why not a seventh? Vettel, was fourth quickest in the final two practice sessions of the weekend and has four top fives in 2019.
8 Grosjean – He finally gets a finish he deserves. Grosjean, has failed to score points in 2019 but is having a great weekend thus far. Grosjean, was fifth, sixth and fifth respectively in practice and starts seventh on Sunday.
