Hamilton Scores 85th Career F1 Pole, Mercedes Locks Out Monaco Grand Prix (9 a.m. ET/ESPN) Front Row

Surprise, surprise. Mercedes, has finished 1-2 in literally every race on the 2019 Formula One season. In the year’s biggest race around the streets of Monaco, they will start the race 1-2.

Lewis Hamilton circled the 2.074-mile track with a time of 1:10.166-seconds in his No. 44 Mercedes to earn just his second career pole at Circuit de Monaco and 85th of his F1 career. The top starting spot is his first since Australia as it ends his teammate of Valtteri Bottas’ three race pole streak.

That’s okay though as Bottas will start along side his Silver Arrow’s teammate. Bottas, turned in a time of 1:10.252-seconds in his No. 77 Mercedes to earn a fifth straight front row starting spot.

Combined, Mercedes has won two of the last four Monaco Grand Prix’s and literally every race this season. Where Bottas has a good trend going for him is, this race has seen literally four straight years of a different winner. He can push it to five.

Max Verstappen (1:10.641-seconds) will start third in his No. 33 Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Honda while his teammate Pierre Gasly (1:11.041-seconds) will start fifth in his No. 10 Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Honda.

Sebastian Vettel (1:10.947-seconds) rounded out the top five in his No. 5 Ferrari as he will start fourth. The only reason his teammate and hometown hero Charles Leclerc isn’t up there is because of a massive mistake by Ferrari in general. He fell to the bottom of the speed charts in Round 1 but his team elected to never send him back out as everyone was improving their times. He fell to the bubble of the drop zone while Vettel went back out and initially bumped Leclerc out. Leclerc, was fourth, 10th and first respectively in practice this weekend but will only start 16th.
