Hamlin To Have Off Season Shoulder Surgery

FORT WORTH, TX – Denny Hamlin is injured. You wouldn’t know it with the way that he’s been driving during the course of the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. Hamlin, is having a career year as he’s on the verge of making the Championship 4 for just the second time of his career.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver heads to the Texas Motor Speedway this weekend on the heels of five wins, 18 top five finishes and 22 top 10’s. The 18 top five results are the most he’s ever had in a single season of his 14 year career while the 22 top 10’s are tied for the most he’s ever scored.

Despite that, Hamlin said on Friday that he’s been dealing with a shoulder issue and will have to have offseason surgery to correct it.

“I really don’t know how it happened to be honestly with you,” Hamlin said at the Texas Motor Speedway during his media availability on Friday afternoon. “It’s been nagging. Really for years, I’ve had shoulder issues. It’s just got to a point where it was really bad and I had to scanned to figure out what it was.”

Luckily as Hamlin said, the injury isn’t really affected him in the race car as his stats clearly show that.
