Kurt Busch and Monster Energy Reups With Chip Ganassi Racing

FORT WORTH, TX – Another silly season domino has fallen as Kurt Busch and Chip Ganassi Racing announced on Saturday that the Las Vegas native will return to the team in a new multi year contract.

Busch, is in his 19th full time season in NASCAR’s premiere series and hinted at the beginning of the year that his could be his final go around for a second championship. He’s made it clear that he wants to run the Indy 500 again as well as race in IMSA endurance races at Daytona and LeMans. That’s a big reason as to why he signed with Ganassi because when his NASCAR career is over, there’s still an option to run in those races with Ganassi in their other cars.

But, for this to be a multi year deal, it means Busch is committed for more than just 2019 or even 2020 at that. He will be around through at least the 2021 campaign as Busch says that the new car intrigues him.

He’s won at least one race in each of the last six years including a victory at the Kentucky Speedway over his little brother in July. By being so competitive in a car that never really was competitive over this last decade, the fire still burns deep for Busch to contend for a title.

He won the 2004 championship to go along with 31 trips to victory lane in the Cup Series. Busch, also has amassed 143 top five finishes, 297 top 10’s and 27 poles.

Also, part of Saturday’s announcement is that Monster Energy will return as a sponsor as well on his No. 1 Chevrolet.
