No one would confuse Kyle Larson as a road course ringer. Larson, has typically qualified well on the twistys but has never really contended for race wins in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series on them.
But, what if I told you that Larson is a legitimate sleeper to win Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBC/PRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at the Charlotte Motor Speedway?
Larson, has two top 10 finishes in as many tries on road courses in 2019. He also has seven top eight finishes in his No. 42 Chevrolet in his last eight tries on the season. Furthermore, Larson has 10 top 10 finishes since June 23 in Sonoma (13 races). He only had four in the previous 15 starts to the year.
Also, Larson was second, seventh and eighth respectively in practice this weekend to go along with starting seventh in Sunday’s race.
I like his chances.
