Larson Has Up And Down Day Sunday In Kansas

Kyle Larson had a Cortisone shot in his ribs before Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at the Kansas Speedway. That was a result of being in pain following his crash that he was involved in on Monday at the Talladega Superspeedway.

As the race went on though, Larson felt more and more pain. The precautions taken before the race were wearing off. Still, that’s not the reason as to why he said that a top three car finished 14th.

Larson, had an up and down day in Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400. He quickly move to a battle for the lead and even took it on Lap 5. He and Brad Keselowski battled for the top spot and exchanged the lead twice in a span of four laps, but Larson would take back over on Lap 9 and lead the next 40 laps.

In fact, he’d lead 60 of the first 76 laps overall. That’s when his race changed.

Ryan Newman got into the wall on Lap 74 to bring out the first of seven caution flags. Larson and others hit pit road as it was a quickie caution for a final few lap shootout at the end of the opening stage.

Larson, would only finish 13th. In the second stage, he had an uncontrolled tire on his stop and get penalized. He’d finish 14th in that stage. Still, he’d find his way back to the front in the end before getting shuffled back in the end to a finish outside of the top 10.
