NXS To Have Large Shift In Talent For 2020

MIAMI, Fla – For the last two years, the talk in the NASCAR XFINITY Series has been of the “Big 3.” Saturday’s race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway will mark the last of an era in the series.

With Cole Custer being rumored to move up to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with Stewart-Haas Racing, the three most successful drivers in the series will now all be rookies in NASCAR’s premiere series in 2020.

Christopher Bell will race for Leavine Family Racing in the No. 95 Toyota. Tyler Reddick will race for Richard Childress Racing in the No. 8 Chevrolet.

Combined, this trio has won 20 of the 32 races run in 2019 and 30 in total of the last two years.

Bell, won seven times in 2018 and eight more in 2019. He’s had 16 wins, 40 top five finishes and 45 top 10’s over the course of his brief NXS career.

Reddick, won last year’s championship and has eight wins, 34 top five finishes and 52 top 10’s in 83 NXS starts.

Custer, has nine wins, 38 top fives and 70 top 10’s in 103 starts. They’ll make up three of the four spots into the Championship 4 this weekend and now know that they’re all being promoted for 2020.

But, what does that leave for the NXS competition next year?

Bell is being replaced by Harrison Burton. Custer and Reddick don’t have replacements yet. I can see SHR downsizing maybe to just one full time car for Chase Briscoe who as of right now is a free agent. RCR doesn’t have any drivers lined up.

We do know that Daniel Hemric is coming back down to JR Motorsports for 21 races but won’t be full time and that Daniel Suarez could come back down to a part time role with RCR too.

Other than that, the championship is now wide open.
