INDIANAPOLIS – For years, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway had said that they’re not for sale. Even with the sell of Clabber Girl last year, IMS remained strong in that they’re not selling IMS or the NTT IndyCar Series.
Now, they did.
On Monday morning, the news that shocked the world was announced in that Penske Corporation has purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as well as the NTT IndyCar Series too.
Penske, has virtually owned IMS anyways, just not in a managerial role. His teams have won the Indianapolis 500 a record 18 times including a clean sweep of the Month of May in each of the last two years. They’ve also won the 2018 Brickyard 400 too.
Now, Penske has full control of the famed track.
He also has control of the IndyCar Series as well. Penske has owned tracks in the past including Nazerath, Fontana and Michigan, but he’s never owned a series before.
