Reddick Advances To Homestead With A Shot At 2nd Straight Championship

AVONDALE, AZ – Tyler Reddick became just the third Sunoco rookie in NASCAR XFINITY Series history to win the title last season, joining Chase Elliott (2014) and William Byron (2017). Now the rising star from California is trying to become the seventh driver in series history to win back-to-back championships joining Sam Ard (1983-84), Larry Pearson (1986-87), Randy Lajoie (1996-97), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (1998-99), Martin Truex Jr. (2004-05) and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (2011-12). All he needed to do is secure his spot in the Championship 4 this weekend at ISM Raceway.

He did just that.

Reddick, was solid all weekend and finished fourth in both stages run in Saturday’s race. He’d then bring his No. 2 Chevrolet home third for his fourth top three finish in his last seven races of the season. By virtue of that, Reddick advances to the Championship 4 for the second straight year.

This time, he’s doing so with a different team. Last year, he raced for a title with JR Motorsports. This year, he’s with Richard Childress Racing.

RCR hasn’t won a title since Austin Dillon did so earlier this decade. Next year, Reddick will move up to a Cup seat with RCR, so this will be his last chance at a championship in NXS competition.

He has a great shot of doing so as well as the original favorite in Christopher Bell has made self inflicted wounds in each of the last two weeks. Reddick, has been consistently up front.
