PLYMOUTH, Wis – What a great last month that its been for Ryan Norman. In the Freedom 100 run on May 24 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Andretti Autosport driver narrowly finished runner-up in his No. 48 entry. Despite not having a race between Indy and now, Norman has been busy.
He earned a test with Andretti next week at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with their Indy Car program then backed that up with earning his second career Indy Lights victory in Race No. 1 at Elkhart Lake.
Norman, qualified second but when pole sitter Rinus VeeKay made a mistake on Lap 1, he capitalized. Norman, took the lead and led 18 of 20 lap en route to his maiden win in the series (41 starts).
The Ohio native now has three top five finishes on the season as well.
He outlasted his teammate Robert Megennis who came home second in his No. 27 entry. Megennis, crossed the finish line on the 4.014-mile Wisconsin road course 4.6912-seconds behind Norman for his fourth podium result in his last six starts on the year.
Home state native Aaron Telitz was making his second start of the season and would bring his No. 4 Belardi Auto Racing car home third for his 10th career series podium and his third straight top five finish at Road America.
Rookie Toby Sowery finished fourth in his No. 2 BN Racing/Team Pelfrey entry while a third Andretti car in Oliver Askew rounded out the top five in his No. 28 entry.
Andretti cars have now won five of the last six races this season.
