Last weekend in Kentucky, Kurt Busch ended Chip Ganassi Racing’s 64 race winless streak in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. He went from fourth to first in just two corners and won the Quaker State 400.
What was impressive was that his teammate Kyle Larson also grabbed a top five finish as well with a fourth place result in his No. 42 Chevrolet. Now, can both contend for another win in Sunday’s Cup race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway?
I’d say, yes.
First off, Chevrolet has won all three races since NBC Sports took over the NASCAR TV schedule. Secondly, both drivers are good on the Magic Mile.
Busch, has three top 10 finishes in his last four starts there. Plus, he had a chance to win at Michigan in mid-June. He should have won Daytona two weeks ago. He won Kentucky last week. He’s surging in a good way.
So is Larson. He has two runner-up finishes in his last three New Hampshire starts. Also, he has two top four finishes in his last three starts on the season too.
This is a group to watch for the win on Sunday.
