PLYMOUTH, Wis – After an early race mistake on Saturday, Juncos Racing’s Rinus VeeKay made up for it a day later in leading flag-to-flag en route to a victory in Sunday’s race No. 2 for the Indy Lights Series at Road America. VeeKay, started on the pole and led all 20 laps in reaching victory lane for the third time of the 2019 season. It was also his fourth podium in his last five starts as his lone finish not in the top three since the Month of May was a seventh place run on Saturday.
Saturday’s winner Ryan Norman finished runner-up in his No. 48 Andretti Autosport entry. It was Norman’s third straight top two finish as he’s running better than he’s ever done in the Indy Lights Series. That has led him to a test with Andretti Autosport’s Indy Car program at Mid-Ohio next week.
Norman’s Andretti teammate of Oliver Askew finished third in his No. 28 entry. It was Askew’s sixth podium in his last seven starts as the lone finish he wasn’t on the podium since the season opener was a fifth place finish in Elkhart Lake on Saturday.
David Malukas and Aaron Telitz rounded out the top five on Sunday. Malukas had the charge of the day in coming from seventh to finish in the top five.
The series has a couple of weeks off before returning to action in two weeks in Toronto.
